Western Digital My Book

Wester Digital My Book is a series of external hard drives from Western Digital. My book units have been designed to resemble a hardcover book in standard black, with the exception of the Pro series, which are silver and the World Series, which are white. Besides the work of the appearance of the housing unit, my discs feature ventilation holes in the top book units that explain a message in Morse code.

Installation is simple, because I do not "install" anything - just plug and is ready for use. Doesn`t includes a CD with installation software because all the needed application loads inmediatly from the hard disk when you plug it the first time. Simply connect the USB 2.0 port of your computer and you're ready to start saving and backing up your files.

The Western Digital is formatted at the factory in the FAT32 file system, which imposes limitations on the maximum size of files that can be stored. The limit is around 4 GB if you plan to use paper to store large files (video files, for example), then you should consider changing the format to NTFS before you start using it. You can convert the drive while keeping data intact, but it is much easier to do before you start using it. Click the drive in My Computer and use the "Quick Format" is the best way to do it and it should only take a few minutes.

To give a better idea of the incredible storage capacity of this device, I want you to imagine 571,000 photos, 500,000 songs or 150 hours of video. The Western Digital WDH2Q20000N can store it all! The speed of this drive makes it a useful tool for all creative professionals there.

Small, simple, elegant and very easy to use. Just plug it in, and you have enough space to back up and save your valuable data, music, photos and movies.

The My Book World Edition is easy to configure and use, but it is honestly the more complicated it is. The World Edition is the closest you can get a plug-and-play NAS. Simply connect the network router in World Edition, insert the software CD, click on "Map Network Drive" and that's it! You can start using its global edition in a few seconds. Yes, the more complex activities, such as scheduling backups, configuration of iTunes or adjusting security settings is longer, but it's the easiest way to create network-attached storage that we've ever seen.
